The Mentality is Changing...Accept it or Stop it..

This post is an important one. You may think its very fictional due to the character of Rocky, but this could not be further from the truth. This post is meant to remind you of the gritty, pugnatious character of Rocky Balboa. In this baseball world this is Paul Oneill and Lenny Dykstra. Guys that play hard till the end and don't quit. They put their team before themselves. And in the end, they were remembered as players that refuse to quit, and gave their teams a chance to win every night.

This mentality is hard to find these days. Is it because kids are allowed to slide? are they held accountable? do they take things personal? do coaches demand excellance? These are questions that need to be answered. This negative epidemic is taking place at all levels of the game. What can you do as a Coach to stop it? Or as a player what can you do?

Should the game continue to be played with lower levels of enthusiasm, or the desire for individual success, the end result will be poor. These same attitudes are seen throughout society in all workplaces, so we must reteach the youth what hardwork is. Teach them how to GRIND, and push themselves past their limits. Some of the best in the game train at levels so high that it challenges their mental state of mind, and physical well being, but in the end, they have challenged themselves. Are you challenging yourself and demanding excellance from those you coach, or those you play with?

Watch clips of sports from the 70s, 80s, and early 90s and you will see GUTS being spilled all over the field. Demand Excellence from yourself and those around you, and great things will happen with your energy, you will attract success.
